Singing Competition Rising Star sold in UK & US, how about the Philippines?

UK's ITV is bringing Israel TV's Rising Star to the European market soon! But the biggest deal so far for this innovative program is its newly inked contract with America's ABC. Expect to have a new show to watch out for aside from Idol, X Factor & The Voice.

This new reality singing competition has already touched down in Scandinavia. Franchises have been sold to Italy and Hungary as well. For America's ABC, the show will initially have 10 episodes come Summer 2014.

What is the format?
Let's directly read it from the maker's official website as we quote...
RISING STAR is a trailblazing interactive talent format that hails a new era in home entertainment. Its launch marks the first real-time voting by viewers via an innovative free app that is fully integrated into the show.

Home viewers decide – by voting via the app – who advances, while the viewers’ pictures appear on the large screen facing the contestant. If the performer secures 70% of the viewers’ and the judges’ votes, the screen rises in the studio and the new star is revealed. From the very first minute of the very first episode, viewers will continue to play an integral role in every decision made on the show throughout the entire season.

RISING STAR’s record-breaking debut on Keshet Channel 2 – and the overwhelming response and participation from viewers – has set a new bar for the future of talent shows. Since its debut, over 1.5 million viewers have been exposed to the show each episode, capturing an incredible 49.4% share, making it the highest debut of a TV show during the September launch season in 15 years. Over 4.5 million votes have been tallied through the app, which has been downloaded more than 1.3 million times. RISING STAR has far outperformed all second screen data ever recorded in Israel, with a participation rate 10 times higher than previous shows, and a conversion rate (viewers to second screen participation) of over 30%.

Produced by Tedy Productions for Keshet Broadcasting

Or better yet watch a clip of this show...

It would be so nice to have our own franchise of this as The Voice of the Philippines proved to be entertaining. It gave us a closer feel of the great format that it is in the UK and the US.

But if ABS-CBN is full with Got Talent, X-Factor and The Voice franchises, how about GMA Network gets this one? They have the Studio 7 which is perfect for Rising Star's set.

The Voice of the Philippines Blind Auditions Blind Items

You've seen some of them already but here are more clues as to who got in for the Blind Auditions for The Voice of the Philippines.

The Blind Auditions is already a prestigious part of the competition. Many of you may not know that to get to the Blind Auditions, the artists had to go through two to three stages of pre-auditions. After that, they had to go through different activities like contract signing which took almost a day to do that and band rehearsals which also made all artists wait for long hours before their turn.

As to who endured this process, here are more clues aside from what other blogs have given you...

The bald and the beautiful.

The one color comes out.

The one who's tired of TV ghost singing.

The one who was part of the list in the local academy but got disqualified coz of 'IDOLatry.'

The one who sells belts.

The one who leaves the beautiful paradise.

The one who lives in terror.

The one who grew up in church.

The one who tried it 5x on TV.

The ones who live with the stone on the corner.

The one who played with the border on the south.

The Voice of the Philippines, the Competition to Beat!

The Voice of the Philippines is about to set a phenomenal success on Philippine TV!

For the first time, the four coaches Lea Salonga, Bamboo, Apl.De.Ap, and Sarah Geronimo gathered together. Today, the four coaches are scheduled for the official press conference of the show. The mock blind auditions is also set to take place within the day. It would be the first time for the coaches to try out the revolving chairs.

The selection process was finalized right before the Holy Week vacation. Days after the Holy Week, the band rehearsals started. In the band rehearsals, each of the 100+ contenders had their chance to record the 90-seconder audition piece with the band of the show. They were given audio recording of the rehearsal for their practices at home. With this process, the viewing public can expect high quality entertainment during the Blind Auditions.

We want to give you a glimpse, the outsider's perspective, to the show before the Blind Auditions start this Monday.

Kapamilya Gold Facebook Fan Page of ABS-CBN also released a photo of the "official venue" for The Voice of the Philippines. We have yet to hear officially from the production team of The Voice of the Philippines about this venue. Buzz online had it that the venue will be in Bulacan where the network is building their soundstage. Contrary to that, Kapamilya Gold stated that the venue will be at Newport City where a state-of-the-art facility is capable of delivering the needs of the international franchise.
The venue looks very promising. We await to see how the production team would transform the place into the brand look of The Voice. However, there's also buzz going around that the Blind Auditions will take place in a different venue. At ABS-CBN studios perhaps?

The excitement is building up. Before all these, fans have been looking for stuff online. Thanks to the Instagram account of one of their staff Marcus Joseph Vinuya who has been posting discreet photos of the show. Here are some...

Team THE VOICE PHILIPPINES
With all these preparations they have been doing, it makes the public get more and more and excited. The Voice of the Philippines is the competition to beat this season on Philippine TV. Mind you, the unsung artists they have included are the best by far in the field of singing here in the country. It will certainly 'up' the standards of TV competitions. Yes, it's a franchise but the country can still be very proud of how the production team has carried out and will carry out the responsibility given to them by the international team.
