Party Pilipinas To Stage Its Final Episode Next Sunday

Party Pilipinas will be axed after next Sunday's episode entitled Take A Bow. Mainstay Ogie Alcasid announced in the last segment of their episode today.

Ogie Alcasid, with the whole cast of Party Pilipinas on stage with him, said that today was the last episode of Team A, Mark Reyes and crew, and next Sunday would be Team B's last episode, Rico Gutierrez and his crew.

In the past days, fans have been talking about this after a column in a newspaper came out that GMA Network will cancel three shows from their Sunday afternoon slot. The two other shows that the article talked about were HOT TV, axed already, and Teen Gen-- the comeback of TGIS.

What's next for GMA Sunday noontime?

Our guess, GMA Network Entertainment group is yet again reformatting it to get rid of unnecessary artists. Our guess, the network will highlight the younger generation of divas and famous singers with the likes of Christian Bautista and Julie Anne San Jose to be the banner bearer of the new show. The problem with Party Pilipinas is that it still lives in the shadow of SOP which they say "pinaglumaan."

Bank deposits to India within 24 hours. Since the veterans have lost their charisma over a fresher audience, the network may have decided to offer a fresher flavor, a more relevant one at that.

Here's one hoping that there will still be a Sunday competition after it gets axed. ASAP is excellent but the network has to challenge it to up the quality of Sunday viewing.

Final word: Party Pilipinas kudos for revolutionizing the quality of production numbers as far as Team B is concerned.

Fans' Request Granted: #HappyBirthdayElmoMagalona

With more than 600,000 followers on Twitter, a number of endorsements under his name and a consistent trending topic almost weekly, Elmo Magalona is truly one of the most phenomenal celebrities present in the showbiz industry.

Now that he's celebrating his birthday, the Outsider would like to highlight his strengths that may make him a bigger star.

We've always stressed that Julie Anne San Jose is better off without Elmo Magalona. Now that we've gotten a chance to post an entry about Elmo Magalona, we also want to put this on record: Elmo Magalona can make it bigger even without Julie Anne San Jose.

Elmo's strengths
Admit it, the guy can perform. He can dance well and he has the charisma on stage. He can get away with the not so good singing voice because he can sing still. But his charisma is enough to bring him farther.

Elmo can rap! Not just rap, but he can rap like he owns the stage. Thanks to his dad, Francis M., who did not only pass on a talent but a legacy of followers as well. Elmo, being that he's a son of a famous OPM rapper, can make it bigger because his dad made sure he will make it bigger.

Whether or not he can act, we leave that judgment to the box office results and ratings of his movies and TV shows. As for the Outsider, we stick to his strengths. Without asking him to act, he can make it really big in the music field both recording and live performances. Like real big!

What's lacking?
He lacks an album! A single with a music video. That's what he lacks. He lacks a team who can push his name even farther. To tell you honestly, had he been with ABS-CBN, specifically Star Magic, his number of Twitter followers may have been more than what he has now. But granted that he's with GMA Network, we can only hope that they will be able to utilize him at his best.

To mention this without comparing, he's actually the 'Daniel Padilla' of GMA Network only with a lesser following. But that alone is already an honor, a privilege-- to be a big star.

But Elmo Magalona, on your birthday, our only wish is this: that you become a bigger star without compromises. Please don't follow the footsteps of Justin Bieber who has gone wild. You can manage better since you're at an older age than him when he entered the industry.

Again, #happybirthdayElmoMagalona

#PPSummerCrush Pusong Bato - Jonalyn Viray Cover

This one right deserves some attention! A good way to sing the novelty song. Jonalyn Viray deserves a bigger spot in the music industry, seriously. Might as well transfer to Star Records or VIVA Records?

Watch her version of Pusong Bato via Party Pilipinas #PPSummerCrush episode.

Encantadia Musical in Party Pilipinas?

The historical telefantasya from GMA 7, Encantadia is set to do a comeback... but a musical?

Followers of the most popular telefantasya ever produced on Philippine TV is set to hit the TV screens today. But not as a primetime series for its second book. As a segment in Party Pilipinas episode today entitled #PPBold. Its episode director, Direk Mark Reyes, tweeted about it days ago.

Who will play Sang'gres for the said segment? Here's a glimpse from Direk Mark's tweets.

It's interesting that three of the original Sang'gres are now Kapamilya. Karylle, who first moved to ABS-CBN played Alena, the singing enkantada. Iza Calzado, who joined the Kapamilya family just recently, played Amihan. And Diana Zubiri, who signed a Kapamilya contract just this week, played Danaya. They're also expected to appear in ASAP 2012 today. In the same network is Dawn Zulueta, who played queen in Encantadia.

Is it a sign that the second book is underway?

Why Zendee Rose Deserves An Exclusive Contract

Finally, she's on TV. Zendee Rose Tenerife, Random Girl, is not just a Youtube sensation but she has all the right to be seen on TV. Now that she has accidentally got the attention of not just Filipinos but foreign press and star builders, there's no reason why Zendee Rose can't ink a management contract both in singing and on TV.

Last week, when PEP.ph posted the video by Yuan Juan, we predicted that Kapuso Mo Jessica Soho would most likely feature her from this article. It truly happened. In fact you can watch part of it after the jump.
Zendee Rose featured in Kapuso Mo Jessica Soho in the Viral Diva segment.

When her name became famous, and when she got interviewed in 24 Oras, she said that she's in Manila after not getting through the next stage of a singing competition. We searched what show this was and we found out that she auditioned for X-Factor Philippines. Here's her audition piece.

In her interview with 24 Oras, we checked out ABS-CBN on that day to see if she also had an interview with them. There was none that we saw. Then last Sunday, she has finally landed on our TV screens via Party Pilipinas. Watch it here.

Judging from her appearances and interviews with GMA Network, we think that the network has already gotten her to be with them. But why not?

Why does Zendee Rose Tenerife deserve an exclusive contract?
She's more than just a Youtube sensation. Her voice is out of this world compared to the ones who actually got the spots in the X Factor Philippines and have been getting comments like 'out-of-this-world' when we don't see the point why such comment.

She writes songs that are not baduy at all. She gave a sample of her written piece in KMJS.

She registers well on TV

Her roots and life experiences seem like her feet will put her always on the ground. Walang angas unlike others who act as if they have reached the top of the world.

Zendee Rose, THE OUTSIDER is with you.

Why ASAP 2012's #StarMagic20Years Won Over #PP80s

It was very obvious last Sunday that ASAP 2012 was winning in the viewership. Imagine, you get almost all of your stars from day one till today and put them all in one show for a reunion, what else do you expect?

So clearly, the appearance of the old, the formerly famous, the currently shining stars, and those in between is one of the huge reasons why ASAP 2012 #StarMagic20Years episode made it to the top. It should be mentioned that for the past months, Party Pilipinas has been winning the ratings game in Metro Manila with a not so significant gap from its rival show in the nationwide ratings. But last Sunday, they clearly lost it.

For Kantar Media-TNS Total Philippines Household Ratings, ASAP 2012 had 17.4% of viewership over Party Pilipinas with 8.2% only. For AGB Nielsen Mega Manila Household Ratings result, ASAP won by 1.3% with 13.3% of total viewership while Party Pilipinas had 12%.

Another possible reason for ASAP 2012's win is their stellar production numbers last Sunday. Not to mention, KC Concepcion's awkward performance which turned out to still look impressive because of the production value put in to it. So we question, was Party Pilipinas lax last Sunday? Or their creative juices just went low on supply?

Where Party Pilipinas Went Wrong

Not that everyone will agree to this but one thing about last Sunday's episode of Party Pilipinas--messy. It was messy, too full of colors and people on stage that it got so confusing who the main stars are. Add to that the fact that it was an 80s episode so colorful presentations were really expected. There wasn't a good story-telling from beginning to end. It seemed as if they just added whatever production number there is to keep its consistency with the 80s.

Despite these observations, it is undeniable that there were awesome performances from the show as well like the Sayaw Party Pilipinas which highlighted only a few, that was good and less-confusing.

Was It A Clear Win To Give Up?

Even when it was a concept to bring all the stars in for ASAP 2012, not to mention the Optimum Star Claudine Barretto appearing in the station again, there could have been a better competition last Sunday. To the people involved in this site, call us bias but there could have been a better director at the helm. This to say without putting less value on the director last Sunday.

But really, as far as changing the hearts of the viewers' perspective on Sunday noontime viewing, it takes a Rico Gutierrez (DRG) to do that. He has proven that in the past years and have been proving it for the other Sundays lately. And news has it that he's back in the show as an alternate director.

We lay our cards today and we will wait for the ratings as DRG takes the directorship this afternoon for APPRUB episode versus ASAPPicturePerfect.

To ASAP 2012, good job last Sunday! It was a simple yet sure champion show with hundreds of stars (if my count is right) just taking the ramp without performing. And the VTRs surely made a big impact in the ratings. Kudos to the staff and crew behind every performance and segment!

Fasten your seatbelts as we witness who wins the approval of many to get that perfect ratings for the Sunday noontime.
