2 Areas Parikoy should Capitalize On

Three episodes done and it seems like Parikoy, the recent addition to GMA Telebabad's lineup, has the making of what can possibly be a soap opera that can run for a year or more.

Yes, you've read it right. Parikoy can qualify to be that TV series that can last long because it can survive without having too many secrets being divulged to keep a series going. This one needs to just showcase the life of a cool priest and just add a twist when the network wants to axe it already.

After watching the first three episodes, here are the following aspects that we think this TV series has to capitalize on.

1. Father Kokoy's speeches/sermons
It seems like this show has given enough time for a scene that would feature Father Kokoy's sermons. It was good that they gave airtime for the priest to deliver his wedding sermon and even featured a part of his baptismal sermon.

If the makers of this show are serious about longevity, they better have a good team of writers who would craft his sermons. This team has to research sermons that have been delivered by well-loved preachers. Try Bo Sanchez.

2. Moments every episode
Remember the second episode when he had to bid goodbye as he got reassigned to another parish? Not that he has to transfer every episode. But every episode should have at least that 'moment' which will move the audience. When that departing scene came out on the second night, tweets about how people got moved with that flooded the timeline.

Parikoy stands true to its label as a faithserye if you judge it according to its first three episodes. Hopefully writers will be able to pull this off for a long run. Our hope for this TV show is that it will last for two years or more.

Upcoming Kapuso Shows Pari 'Koy & Instadad, Promising?

GMA Network held two story conferences yesterday for two daily series-- Pari 'Koy and InstaDad. Are they promising enough to be the country's talked about?

Pari 'Koy on Telebabad

Starring Dingdong Dantes and Sunshine Dizon along with veteran actors and child star Jillian Ward (who's turning out to be a not so child star anymore), Pari 'Koy is a concept that will feature a priest as the main lead that being Dingdong Dantes.

GMA Network's Primetime King describes briefly the role:

"Lumaki siya sa isang magandang pamilya, pero ang pinili niyang landas ay ang kanyang bokasyon, which is 'yung paninilbihan sa simbahan. Na-assign siya sa isang parish kung saan challenging para sa kanya dahil nandoon ang mga tao na mas nangangailangan ng tulong."

What to Expect

To be directed by Maryo J. De Los Reyes, expect this family drama to have almost the same lightness with Niño in terms of approach but heavy in terms of acting.

InstaDad on Afternoon Prime?

Starring Matet De Leon, Gabby Eigenman and new love team Juancho Trivino and Ashley Ortega, InstaDad has not yet been announced whether it will land on primetime or not. So it is most likely pegged to air via the force to reckon Afternoon Prime of Kapuso network.

In a recent interview with Juancho before the story con, he said that Artist Center was preparing him for a major role in an upcoming soap opera. And it turns out that this is what he was talking about. Although fans are hopeful for his new role, they can't be certain yet if this would really be it because with the concept of InstaDad, it seems like Gabby Eigenman and Matet De Leon are the lead in the story.

Will this new tandem generate a good following through this new soap opera? Is it safe to say that this would be Juancho's big break after a disappointing launch in TeenGen? Fans are hopeful that the Entertainment department will not fail them.

Dingdong Dantes After Wedding, What May Come

Now that Dingdong Dantes is married, we look farther the years and see what may come after he ties the knot with his beloved Marian Rivera. For this particular entry, we look at two fields where Dantes is most likely to flourish.


Movies
Be it starring in a film or producing one, Dingdong Dantes' fame and fortune in the movies are most likely to elevate.

He can be a 'suki' to Metro Manila Film Festival yearly. He started with a movie with Star Cinema where he won festival's best actor. Then with his own film outfit Agostodos Productions in partnership with Reality Entertainment and GMA Films via Tiktik The Aswang Chronicles. This year, he co-produced and starred in the second installment Kubot. He has gained a platform in the MMFF, probably taking the slot of Sen. Bong Revilla.

The benefits about his Aswang Chronicles series:
1. There are more Aswang species that our country has. So he can really make it a yearly entry for the MMFF.
2. Dantes raised the bar by producing excellent fiction films. Not substandard.

So while he can still pull off a TV soap opera granted a brilliant material like Ang Dalawang Mrs. Real, Dantes is most likely to soar higher in the silver screen. Our hope though is that GMA Films would give him a movie material like what they gave to Cesar Montano in the past-- Jose Rizal and Muro Ami.


Politics
Despite the denial, The Outsider believes that his route is still going politics. When his name started to tag alog PNoy thru the YES foundation, one can predict where he is really going.

But what's wrong with politics for a Dingdong Dantes? Let's enumerate reasons why politics is not a bad route for him.

In his showbiz career, there was not a publicity as muddy as the others. No news on 'anak sa labas'. No sexual identity crisis. No 'playboy' rumor. So far, his integrity as far as face value is in tact.
He has a mind that can carry the load. He's smart enough. He won't be a puppet.
He's rich. He has a good source of income from showbiz alone. Good chance he won't corrupt.


Dingdong Dantes is one of the country's actors who climbed the way to the top, remained loyal to his network and maintained his image. Indeed, a fulfilled man. Best wishes to him and Marian Rivera.

Inescapable Lessons from Ang Dalawang Mrs. Real

The plight of the Reals come to a conclusion tonight. Millet Real (Maricel Soriano), Shiela Real (Lovi Poe), and Anthony Real (Dingdog Dantes) will have their books closed tonight as the phenomenal Ang Dalawang Mrs. Real calls it an end.

While some are still stuck in the memories of The Legal Wife with Angel Locsin and Jericho Rosales, most people have moved forward and chose to level up their kabitserye viewing experience. This is for one what ADMR has proven, that the viewing experience can still go up a notch.

As GMA Network concludes the show tonight, let us take you back to three inescapable lessons from the show directed by Andoy Ranay.

    1. Kids are the real deal.
        In any marital issue whether it's adultery or simply marital fight, kids are the most affected.
        In their case, the kids of both Millet and Shiela were the ones who would experience the real impact of the situation. They're innocent. They didn't plan to be part of such a family. But they're affected.

     2. Kabitserye doesn't have to be about scandalous scenes.
         Although at some point ADMR showcased big confrontations between the two Mrs. Reals, Ranay and his team only did so when it was necessary.
         The soap, instead of coming up with scandalous scenes to be talked about, made provocative scenes that would showcase internal conflicts. They focused on real emotions rather than the common way of presenting such a theme.

     3. Bigamy is a punishable by law.
          Needless to say, anyone who commits such an act can be imprisoned for five long years.

To the team behind such a masterpiece, thank you for educating the viewers. Indeed, this was one for the books and not just on trending land.

Will "Tiktik: The Aswang Chronicles" Be A Revelation?

The very first time we were in awe watching a digital film shot in green screen was 300. A Hollywood product. This time, it's our turn.

For the first time, Filipino filmmakers pioneer a feature-length movie shot on green screen with the use of the latest technology. Starring Dingdong Dantes, director Erik Matti presents a traditional 'aswang' story in a new form which is consistent with the trend of Hollywood in the likes of The Walking Dead. Joining the cast are Lovi Poe, Janice De Belen, Joey Marquez among many others.

IMPRESSIVE
So far, the movie is getting good impressions from social networking site users. The trailer of this movie has been quite impressive. Shown in HD on Youtube, Dantes provides an action feel in his role battling the 'aswangs' who by the way looked so modern. To watch out for are the action scenes and the execution of digital effects. As for the story, we want to bank on the presence of Erik Matti as director who has done quite remarkable films in the past.

Showing this October, will this be a historic elevation for the horror genre in the Philippine movie industry or another 'trying hard copycat' which will fail the moviegoers? Will it be a revelation?
