ABS-CBN Prepares Multi-Generational Drama with Susan Roces

'The' Susan Roces is set to act anew in a multi-generational drama via ABS-CBN.

That's the news that came out this week as she was interviewed by ABS-CBN News showbiz correspondent Mario Dumaual. In her interview with Dumaual, she said that she can't disclose more details except its schedule of taping. Set to start taping this summer, this 3-generational drama is most likely to take the slot of Ina, Kapatid, Anak.

UPDATE: Susan Roces will be joined by Amalia Fuentes and young stars Enrique Gil, Julia Montes, and Enchong Dee according to Pilipino Star Ngayon.

What's a multi-generational drama?

Remember Luna Blanca of GMA Network? Here's how the three generations of characters evolved.

GMA Network, undeniably, pioneered this concept. But Luna Blanca didn't get better story-wise as it progressed. The best plot they have had was in the second generation. When it reached the third, it seemed as if the writers just wanted to finish the story.

With ABS-CBN taking this concept in their hands, viewers can expect a better treatment for the whole show. Engaging scriptwriting is their forte. Remember Agua Bendita? They had only two generations for that soap opera but both generations were loved by the viewers. They may have practiced from that show already and just taking one more generation as a new challenge.

Case in point: This new drama will certainly be another talk-of-the-town just like Walang Hanggan and Ina, Kapatid, Anak. Now where is GMA Network in the picture? Lagging behind.
